US food and beverage maker Protein Candy has rolled out its new candy product, also known as Protein Candy, in North America, which the company claims to be the world’s first ‘super candy’.

According to the company, Protein Candy comprises 14g of protein, four grams of sugar, six grams of prebiotic fibre, and only 140 calories.

While its regular and ‘better-for-you’ candy contains zero to three grams of protein, Protein Candy contains up to 100 times more protein than other candy, said the company.

The new candy does not contain any sugar alcohols, which are common in low- or no-sugar foods and cause bloating and is naturally sweetened using monk fruit juice and stevia.

Manufactured using natural flavours and colours, the new candy is offered in four flavours, Classic Fruit, Classic Fruit Sour, Berry Punch, and Tropical Punch.

Protein Candy marketing director Morgan Kingdon said: “Most protein bars are high in sugar and calories, while most better-for-you candies offer a low-sugar fix without much else.

“Protein Candy is a game-changing super candy because it satisfies your sweet tooth just like real candy should while delivering a lean, muscle-building protein boost with almost no sugar.”

The company said its Protein Candy is the world’s first super candy, created by merging the worlds of better-for-you snacks, candy, and on-the-go protein, said the company.

The firm is launching its Protein Candy at grocery retailers across Canada, including Sobeys, Safeway, Circle K, and Popeye’s.

The launch is supported by influencer partnerships with pro basketball player Brian Wallack, trainer Haley Beth, and fitness enthusiast, DJ Cristy Lawrence, said Protein Candy.
