Kraft Heinz-owned Kraft Mac & Cheese will introduce PowerMac in April 2026, bringing a “protein- and fibre-enriched” option to its blue box line-up.

The company said each serving will contain 17g of protein and 6g of fibre, with Original and White Cheddar varieties planned.

PowerMac is built around a proprietary pasta fortified with protein and fibre, paired with the brand’s existing cheese powder recipe.

The product is due to roll out at major retailers across the US, priced at $2.99 for a 7.25 oz box.

Kraft added that further pack formats are expected later in 2026.

The launch comes after almost a year of development and is intended to reflect shifts in shopper priorities, with more than half of consumers looking to raise protein and fibre intake.

Kraft said “better-for-you” mac and cheese ranges are expanding more quickly than the overall category, but repeat buying remains lower among those shoppers.

By keeping its established format while adding nutrients, Kraft is aiming to address that repeat-purchase gap, positioning the product around both nutrition and price.

The company said the new range extends its portfolio while keeping an emphasis on “convenience and affordability”.

Kraft Mac & Cheese marketing senior director Ashleigh Edmonds said: “As a consumer-obsessed brand, we developed PowerMac for consumers who want more from their everyday meals without compromising on great taste.

“PowerMac delivers the benefits fans are craving in a way that only Kraft Mac & Cheese can; with a product that outperforms similar offerings in taste, while offering more food at a better price.”

Kraft Mac & Cheese also tested flavour extensions recently, launching a limited-run Apple Pie variant in the US last November ahead of Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving.

That version combined the brand’s creamy pasta with cinnamon and tart green apple notes associated with traditional apple pie.
