Bon Natural Life has established a joint laboratory in China to advance bio-manufactured natural ingredients for food and personal care applications.
The BON & Pilot Joint Laboratory for natural ingredients and bio-manufacturing has been set up with domestic subsidiary Xi’an App-Chem Bio-Tech and the Shaanxi Chang’an Pilot Life Science Industry Innovation Centre.
The facility will undertake research and development of natural active ingredients produced through bio-manufacturing for use in functional foods and personal care products.
Research activities will combine fermentation-based biosynthesis, isolation of natural compounds and artificial intelligence-supported process optimisation.
The aim is to enhance production efficiency, strengthen supply stability and reduce environmental impact compared with conventional plant-extraction approaches.
Founded in 2006, Bon Natural Life develops, manufactures and commercialises natural active ingredients such as plant-derived extracts, functional food components and personal care actives.
Its customers span China, North America, the European Union, Japan and South Korea.
The Shaanxi Chang’an Pilot Life Science Industry Innovation Centre, created in 2022, provides laboratory facilities and research services focused on life sciences and AI-driven manufacturing technologies.
BON chairman Yongwei Hu said: “We believe the establishment of this Joint Laboratory will strengthen our research capabilities and create meaningful collaboration between our respective teams. We expect this initiative will support our continued efforts to develop scalable, high-quality natural ingredients and advance our long-term growth strategy.”
The laboratory launch follows other recent innovation investments in the sector.
Earlier this month, Swiss fragrance group Givaudan opened a fragrance creative centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, as part of its expansion in Southeast Asia.
The site, called “10 Capital”, brought together consumer products and fine fragrance teams to collaborate with regional brands and entrepreneurs on scent development from concept through to finished products.
