Natural Alternatives International, a US-based formulator, manufacturer and marketer of customised nutritional supplements, has reported an increase in its Q3 2012 net income to $1.06m, compared to $181,000 in the corresponding quarter of fiscal 2011.
The company’s net sales for the three months ended 31 March 2012 rose by 30.3% or $4m to $17.4m, compared to $13.4m recorded in the same three-month period last year.
For the first nine months of the current fiscal, the company noted a net income of $3.4m, an increase from $1.9m in the same period of previous fiscal.
The natural supplements company atributed the rise in net income to increased contract manufacturing sales, and patent and trademark licensing revenue, which were partially offset by increased income tax expense.
Contract manufacturing sales during the period rose by 20.2% or $7.8m from the corresponding nine-month period of fiscal 2011, while patent and trademark licensing revenue was up 210.3% or $2.8m.
Natural Alternatives’ net sales for the nine months ended 31 March 2012 increased by 25.2% to $51.9m from $41.5m in the comparable period a year ago.
The US company’s selling, general & administrative expenses for the first nine months of fiscal 2012 were $2.4m, compared to $2.1m in the first nine months of fiscal 2011.
Natural Alternatives International chairman and chief executive officer Mark A. LeDoux said, "This quarter marked the thirteenth consecutive quarter of positive operational earnings, and our performance in a full tax environment in this fiscal year has been strong on a year over year comparison."
