Vitaquest International has launched a dedicated Probiotics Manufacturing Suite at its facility in Parsippany, New Jersey.

The contract manufacturer said the investment responds to rising “customer demand” for probiotic products.

The new suite comprises two blending rooms and four encapsulation rooms, with environmental controls designed to safeguard probiotic viability.

According to the company, the upgrade will double its probiotics capacity, support the use of more probiotic strains, and enable development of new dosage forms and personalised wellness products.

Vitaquest president and CEO Patrick Brueggman said: “As customer interest in probiotics continues to accelerate, we are investing heavily to stay ahead of what’s next.

“This new Probiotics Suite reflects our commitment to building best-in-class capabilities that help our partners grow with confidence.”

The suite is supported by a granulation and drying facility acquired in 2023, which provides upstream processing for complex probiotic formulations.

The site allows pre-treatment of challenging raw materials to improve flow, reduce moisture and standardise particle size before probiotics are added.

The company said preparing ingredients before they are combined with live cultures is intended to better protect probiotic viability and broaden the range of functional components that can be incorporated, while keeping production within a single quality framework and manufacturing provider.

Vitaquest chief innovation officer Terry Coyle said: “Brands that want to tap into the massive probiotics opportunity need an experienced manufacturer that understands the technicalities of working with living organisms.

“Vitaquest has the experience and now the enhanced facility to ensure precise handling, formulation, and environmental control throughout every stage of manufacturing to maintain product stability, ensure potency, and deliver supplements that meet regulatory and consumer quality expectations.”
