Roquette has introduced AMYSTA L 123, a thermally soluble pea starch developed via a patented process that uses no enzymes or chemicals.
The launch marks the first product in the French plant-based ingredients supplier’s AMYSTA label-friendly starch range.
Roquette said the ingredient is intended to support manufacturers aiming for simpler, more transparent ingredient lists while maintaining texture and performance across applications.
The AMYSTA range is positioned to help brands “shorten ingredient lists, strengthen consumer trust and simplify on-pack communication”.
It is designed to overcome solubility challenges typical of conventional starches by using heat treatment and spray drying only.
Roquette noted that the result is a soluble starch with low viscosity, a smooth mouthfeel and strong dispersibility.
The product’s flowability supports dosing in powdered mixes and its carrier properties are intended to aid stability during processing and storage.
According to the company, these features make the starch suitable for ready-to-mix drinks, dried soups, sauces and condiments.
In Europe, it can be declared as “soluble pea starch” and in the US as “pea starch”.
The company cited industry data indicating that about one in three new food and beverage launches globally now carries a clean-label claim, with more than 75% of consumers saying transparency affects their purchasing choices.
