Ingredients solutions provider Prodalim has opened a new dealcoholisation and aroma recovery site in Valencia, Spain, expanding the capabilities of its SOLOS division.
SOLOS is a Prodalim division providing dealcoholisation and aroma recovery technology for producing non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages while maintaining flavour and aroma.
The Valencia facility is now fully operational and is designed to serve demand from Europe’s no- and low-alcohol beverage segment.
According to the company, the site adds to its existing SOLOS infrastructure and will offer dealcoholisation services, aroma recovery, pilot-scale testing and white-label development for wines, beers and spirits.
Prodalim said it also plans to establish another SOLOS site in California in the coming months, which would further increase overall production capacity.
The SOLOS platform is based on Prodalim’s proprietary, patent-backed Aroma Recovery System (ARS).
Developed over more than ten years, the technology is intended to capture a drink’s original aromatic profile during alcohol removal and allow it to be reintegrated into the finished product.
The opening in Valencia follows a broader reorganisation of Prodalim’s operations into three business units: Juice Solutions; Specialty Ingredients & Solutions; and SOLOS.
In its statement, Prodalim said: “Preserving aroma, flavour, and authenticity during dealcoholisation remains one of the industry’s most complex technical challenges.
“SOLOS addresses this challenge, enabling producers to create NoLo wines, beers, and spirits that remain true to their original sensory profiles.”
Citing industry forecasts, Prodalim said the global no- and low-alcohol market is projected to reach about $25bn in 2025, with annual growth of between 8% and 10%, driven by consumer interest in mindful consumption and health-focused lifestyles.
In July last year, the company broadened its natural ingredients offering with the introduction of new Colouring Foodstuffs and Natural Colours ranges.
These products were developed for use across applications such as bakery, beverages, confectionery, dairy and plant-based foods, reflecting Prodalim’s focus on clean-label and plant-based solutions.
