PepsiCo has launched two chilled, ready-to-heat vegetable soups under its Alvalle brand in Spain, marking the brand’s entry into the hot soup segment.
The range includes Vegetable Cream, made with courgette, carrot, potato and onion, and Pumpkin Cream, containing pumpkin, carrot, onion and sweet potato.
Produced in Murcia using vegetables sourced in Spain, the soups contain olive oil and salt and are free from additives and gluten.
They are packaged in 600ml bottles made entirely from recycled plastic (rPET) and sold in the chilled aisle.
PepsiCo said the launch builds on Alvalle’s established position in packaged gazpacho, a chilled soup made from blended raw vegetables.
It aims to meet demand for convenient plant-based meal options during colder months, when gazpacho consumption typically declines.
The move also helps the company utilise production capacity beyond the summer peak.
The category expansion is part of PepsiCo’s wider plan to grow its global food portfolio, following recent acquisitions including Siete Foods and Sabra dips.
PepsiCo Food Ventures business unit Alvalle general manager Lluis Crespo said: “PepsiCo is seizing a strategic opportunity for Alvalle to become an all-year fixture by responding to how consumers eat across seasons, with simple, convenient meals made with natural ingredients that fit lunch and dinner occasions.
“It is a natural evolution for our Alvalle brand and opens the door to growth to even more geographies by appealing to a wider range of consumers.”
The soups also align with the company’s agriculture and supply chain initiatives.
Earlier this year, Alvalle and the PepsiCo Foundation launched the VivaOliva programme in Jaén, Spain, to support 150 olive farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture practices and strengthening business resilience.
The soups are currently available in Spanish supermarkets, with distribution planned for Portugal and other Western European markets.
