US-based Monterey Bay Herb Co. (MBHC) has acquired California-headquartered NP Nutra, which supplies speciality nutraceutical ingredients and botanical extracts.
MBHC said the transaction broadens its nutraceutical offering by adding more specialist and extract-focused SKUs and enhancing sourcing capabilities across areas such as superfruits, supergreens and proprietary blends.
After the acquisition, the combined business is set to carry more than 1,000 products spanning herbs, botanicals and extracts.
It will supply customers across nutraceuticals, food and beverage, health and beauty, and pet nutrition.
NP Nutra will continue to run from its Carson facility in California.
The companies added that, over time, the combined organisation is anticipated to gain from increased processing capacity, strengthened quality systems and a wider commercial reach.
NP Nutra was founded in 1998.
MBHC said the purchase aligns with its longer-term plan to position itself as a strategic partner to the nutraceutical sector, covering sourcing, formulation support and flexible pack-size options.
MBHC CEO Shane Durkee said: “This is a highly strategic combination. NP Nutra strengthens our ability to serve nutraceutical customers with broader formats, deeper technical expertise, and a one-stop sourcing solution-while maintaining the quality, flexibility, and service our customers expect.”
The deal follows other recent transactions in the sector.
Earlier this week, US agribusiness group Bunge completed its acquisition of selected soy-based businesses from International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF).
The transaction, agreed in August 2025, includes IFF’s soy protein concentrate, lecithin and soy crush operations.
The deal included Response, Alpha, Procon and Solec brands.
