Israel-based ingredients supplier Lycored has introduced a new microencapsulation platform, described as a versatile application solution (VAS).

The new offering is aimed at improving performance across a range of finished product formats.

The VAS portfolio, which was unveiled at SupplySide Global, is scheduled to launch on 6 November.

Lycored’s technology comprises microencapsulated starch beadlets designed to support different delivery formats, including tablets that can tolerate direct compression, gummies with improved homogeneity and stability, powder beverages with better solubility, and capsules with enhanced flow properties.

The platform is offered with a selection of actives such as lycopene, beta-carotene, lutein and various vitamins.

Within the range, Lycobeads VAS TM 10% features lycopene, which is positioned as a prominent nutraceutical ingredient attributed to antioxidant activity and its role in supporting cardiovascular health, skin protection and prostate function.

Lycored describes the solution as suited to multiple formats to simplify formulation and deliver consistent performance across product types.

Lycored senior manager of global marketing Megan Dunn said: “VAS technology creates opportunities for brands to drive commercial success through elevated formulations with best-in-class nature-based ingredients.

“SupplySide Global is the ideal venue to demonstrate how VAS stands at the intersection of cutting-edge science and real market demand for naturally derived, scientifically backed wellness solutions—and exemplify how Lycored is leading the way with scientific excellence and innovation that puts consumer needs first.”

Earlier this year, Lycored received a positive scientific opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for Lumenato.

Lumenato is an advanced yellow tomato extract, sourced from a unique yellow tomato breed that features phytoene and phytofluene.

According to the company, Phytoene and phytofluene are rare carotenoids that protect the skin from UVB radiation.

It adds that the ingredient supports collagen, ceramides, and skin barrier function, as demonstrated in multiple pre-clinical and clinical trials.

Lumenato is offered in powder, extract and liquid emulsion formats for applications including nutricosmetics.

Lycored says each format delivers consistent nutrient levels and is verified as non-GMO.
