US-based women’s wellness brand hey freya has unveiled new data for its thrive supplement, from a clinical trial conducted by Citruslabs, a research and product development company.

The eight-week clinical trial evaluated 38 women, aged 25 to 50 years with lasting concerns around energy, fatigue and brain fog through clinically-validated questions.

In the open-label, single-arm study, the company’s thrive supplement showed improvement across all three questionnaires for happiness, stress, and anxiety.

The data showed a 50% improvement in the Generalised Anxiety Disorder 7 screening, which is used to diagnose and monitor anxiety (GAD 7), by the eighth week.

Hey freya said the study results validate its strategy to provide clean, evidence-backed, doctor-formulated solutions that provide energy and rest needed to women.

Hey freya co-founder and chief medical officer Thara Vayali said: “We formulate our products leveraging scientific evidence rooted in naturopathic medicine and herbalism, uniquely designed for women.

“We know that a majority of women experience symptoms of stress, anxiety and overwhelm. This clinical trial underscored just how powerful targeted, high-quality ingredients can be for women.

“The results showed a significant improvement in day-to-day quality of life, which is a huge step in the right direction for us, paving the way for a more robust gold-standard randomised controlled trial against a placebo.”

In the third-party clinical study, the thrive supplement showed effects that are equivalent to those driven by first-line anti-anxiety medications.

The supplement showed a 66% improvement on the Oxford happiness scale from week four to eight, as early as the first trial check-in point, which is halfway through the trial.

Also, the study results showed improvements in all clinically validated scales at a p-value of <0.0001, which indicates that 99.99% chance that these results were due to Thrive.

In the study, 70% of participants said they ‘felt more like themselves’, 70% were less overwhelmed by daily stressors, and 73% experienced better coping with everyday life.

Also, 78% of participants experienced mood improvement, 63% experienced improvement in brain fog and 75% of participants reported a 73% improvement in fatigue and energy.

Citruslabs CEO and co-founder Susanne Mitschke said: “It’s the year 2024, and many women are still being dismissed by their healthcare providers. From the very first conversation I had with the hey freya team, I knew they had a one-of-its-kind product.

“Now, with compelling data to back it up, their supplement showed significant improvements in enhancing happiness, reducing stress and anxiety levels, and boosting energy, focus, concentration, and mental clarity.”
