Germany-based Döhler has launched a new research & development centre in Xinzhuang Industrial Zone, Shanghai, China.

The company said the Shanghai site will be one of its major global research hubs, with increased capabilities to serve the food and beverage sector.

It will also support the delivery of science-based nutrition solutions across the Asia-Pacific region.

The new centre is designed to focus on the needs of customers in China and the wider Asia-Pacific by enhancing local capabilities in development and application.

According to Döhler, the facility is expected to speed up the commercialisation of next-generation technologies and sustainability-oriented solutions, while helping reduce product development times.

Döhler added that the centre plans to enter collaborations with universities and research organisations.

The investment is part of Döhler’s long-term China strategy and its efforts to respond to shifting demand patterns in the Asia-Pacific food and beverage industry.

The company is known for supplying technology-driven natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions to customers in the food, beverage, life science and nutrition sectors.

Döhler Group Asia Pacific president Roman Kupper said: “For the Döhler Group, the Shanghai centre will become a crucial pivot in the worldwide innovation network. It will enhance our operations, allowing inspiration and innovation from the East to benefit customers around the world.”
