Cosaic has formed a partnership with Ingredion to support the global launch of its ingredient technology platform, beginning in the US.
The Swiss biotech company said the alliance will combine Cosaic’s biotechnology capabilities with Ingredion’s global distribution network and technical expertise.
The partnership includes support for Cosaic’s go-to-market strategy and joint product development.
Ingredion will work with Cosaic to co-develop new products as the platform expands beyond the initial US launch.
Cosaic’s fermentation-derived ingredient is designed to deliver dairy-like creaminess and stability in applications including functional beverages, sauces and spirits, without animal-derived inputs.
The company said the technology targets rising demand for ingredients that blend sustainability, sensory performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Cosaic’s flagship offering, Cosaic Neo, is a natural yeast-derived emulsion containing fats, proteins and fibres.
It is positioned as a single, clean‑label, animal‑free ingredient delivering eight functional and sensory benefits.
According to Cosaic, most current food products blend components from multiple sources and rely on additives to combine them; Neo’s microstructure is designed to integrate these molecules without additional additives.
Cosaic’s existing portfolio includes solutions for performance drinks, meal‑replacement shakes, dressings, sauces and spirits, which are expected to be supported through the partnership as the rollout progresses.
Cosaic co-founder and CEO Tomas Turner said: “Partnering with Ingredion marks a pivotal moment for Cosaic.
Together, we’re bringing our yeast-derived emulsion to the world stage, transforming how creamy, delicious, and sustainable foods are made.
“This partnership bridges breakthrough biotech and industrial know-how. With Ingredion’s global reach and technical excellence, we can accelerate commercialisation and make clean-label creaminess a scalable reality.”
In June this year, Univar Solutions announced an expansion of the partnership between its Foodology by Univar Solutions business and Ingredion for distribution in the Benelux region.
