Indian pharmaceutical company Cipla, through its consumer healthcare unit Cipla Health Limited (CHL), has reached definitive agreements to acquire Endura Mass.
Endura Mass is a nutritional supplement brand of India-based Medinnbelle Herbalcare. It offers products related to the weight gain category.
The acquisition will include Endura brand and all its associated trademarks.
Cipla said that the acquisition is in line with its strategy to expand its wellness portfolio.
The completion of the transaction is subject to certain closing conditions.
Upon closing of the proposed acquisition, CHL intends to immediately start distributing and marketing the acquired Endura Mass products.
According to Lancet Journal data, around 20 crore adults in India are underweight.
Endura Mass has been providing a range of efficacious and safe range of solutions for consumers looking to gain weight in a healthy way for more than two decades.
CHL chief executive officer Shivam Puri said: “With this strategic acquisition, we will be expanding our portfolio into a new category of weight gain, thereby catering to a very specific nutritional need for a set of our consumers.
“Being underweight is linked to multiple challenges such as poor stamina, poor concentration and low immunity.
“The addition of Endura & Endura mass to our portfolio perfectly complements our existing offerings across all key OTC/Wellness categories and would hence help us offer an even more comprehensive solution to all key consumer needs.”
