US agribusiness group Bunge has finalised its purchase of selected soy-based businesses from International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF).
The transaction, agreed in August 2025, covers IFF’s soy protein concentrate, lecithin and soy crush operations.
IFF reported that these businesses generated approximately $240m in revenue in 2024. Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal includes the Response, Alpha, Procon and Solec brands.
IFF’s soy isolates business is not included.
Bunge said the acquisition forms part of its plan to streamline its ingredients portfolio and expand the range of solutions available to customers.
The added operations bring textured, functional and powdered soy protein concentrates into Bunge’s existing protein portfolio, supporting the development of higher-protein products in bakery, snacks, meat and meat alternatives.
The agreement also broadens Bunge’s lecithin range to include liquid, powdered and fractionated formats derived from soy, sunflower and rapeseed.
The company stated that the expanded portfolio is designed to assist production processes and texture optimisation in confectionery, bakery and related applications.
Bunge said the purchase is aligned with its strategy to reinforce its capabilities in plant-based ingredients.
Bunge emulsifiers and proteins vice president Brian Douville said: “We are excited to integrate IFF’s soy protein concentrate, lecithin, and crush business and welcome our new colleagues to Bunge.
“This transaction reinforces our commitment to be recognised by food and beverage customers as a partner of choice providing a diverse and reliable range of ingredient solutions to our global customers, supporting supply chain resilience.”
Bunge employs approximately 34,000 people and operates in more than 50 countries.
The company’s registered office is in Geneva, Switzerland, with corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
Last October, IFF and BASF formed a partnership to speed up development of IFF’s Designed Enzymatic Biomaterials platform.
It brought together BASF’s chemical capabilities with IFF’s biotechnology and protein engineering expertise.
