American healthcare company Abbott has introduced PROTALITY, a new brand created to help adults with their weight loss journey.

According to Abbott, the first product to be available under the brand is a high-protein nutrition shake. The product would help adults seeking weight loss while maintaining muscle mass and good nutrition, said the company.

The PROTALITY high-protein nutrition shake is intended for people who face difficulty getting enough protein and other essential nutrients to support muscle mass and function.

It is said to have a fast- and slow-digesting protein that is designed to feed muscles for not less than seven hours.

The shake also has eight essential B vitamins for protein and energy metabolism and 4gm of comfort fibre for digestive health.

Its formulation is comparable to the nutrients offered by Abbott’s Ensure Max Protein drink, and it will act as a foundation for future innovations under the new brand.

PROTALITY joins Abbott’s adult nutrition product line, which already includes Glucerna and Ensure.

The protein shake is available in 11-ounce, four-pack portions in Vanilla and Milk Chocolate flavours.

Abbott nutrition research and development division vice president Hakim Bouzamondo said: ”It’s critical for adults on weight loss regimens to prioritise good nutrition to ensure they get enough micronutrients and protein to preserve muscle mass while consuming limited calories.

”We’ve studied muscle health and nutrition for decades at Abbott. We understand that a weight loss journey can be challenging, which is why we’re launching the PROTALITY brand to give adults nutritional products with an excellent source of high-quality protein and nutrients to support muscle health.”

Last year in November, the company announced positive results from a multi-year food as medicine programme dubbed Healthy Food Rx. The trial demonstrated clinically significant improvements in diabetes people.
