West Best Foods, a wholesale food company based in Las Vegas, Nevada, has recalled about 13,776lbs of lasagna products due to the possible presence of an undeclared allergen.

According to US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recalled product contains soy, a known allergen, that is not declared on the label.

The products subject to recall include 24-lb cases of 'West Best Foods Inc Lasagna With Meat Sauce.' and 24-lb cases of 'West Best Foods Inc Deluxe Beef Lasagna.'

The affected products feature the establishment number 'EST. 6080' inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Produced between 13 April 2012 and 21 May 2012, the lasagna products being recalled were sold to hotels and one distributor in Las Vegas.

The problem, discovered during a routine food safety assessment, may have occurred as a result of a change in an ingredient formulation used in the products, the company said.

However, FSIS and the company have not received any reports of adverse reactions due to intake of these products.

This recall has been classified as Class II, which signifies a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.

Established in 1982, West best Foods is a privately owned corporation that supplies frozen Italian, Mexican and specialty gourmet items to the foodservice industry.

The company's Italian Foods portfolio includes lasagna, pasta and pizza. The range also features vegas line that includes two products - Vegas Lasagna with Meat Sauce and Vegas Vegetable Lasagna.
