TASA Omega - an independently operated division of TASA, the leading producer of fish meal and crude fish oil from the Peruvian anchovy fishery - has entered into an exclusive European distribution agreement with ACETO Health Ingredients GBH.
TASA Omega is Peru's first 100% vertically integrated manufacturer of fully refined and premium quality EE and TG fish oil concentrates, having just completed construction of its omega-3 fatty acid fractionation and concentration facility in Pucusana, just south of Lima.
"As TASA Omega gears up to enter the omega-3 ingredoient market globally, we recognised the strategic advantages of partnering in Europe with ACETO Health Ingredients and its experienced team of omega-3 category sales and marketing experts," stated TASA Omega general manager David Matthews.
Rick Pope, commercial manager at TASA Omega, indicated that TASA Omega's value proposition with customers will be built on four key principles:
- security of supply and access to TASA's annual quota of 25% of the Peruvian anchovy fishery
- 100% vertical integration in Peru, leading to a reduced carbon footprint and ingredient traceability from harvest at sea to customer product application
- proprietary fatty acid fractionation and concentration capabilities that will bring enhanced production yields and manufacturing flexibility
- a commitment to omega-3 category leadership within the Peruvian anchovy fishery and through board-level participation in the industry trade association GOED and the omega-3 coalition campaign.
Alexander Elo, managing director at ACETO Health Ingredients said: "Our team is excited by the value-added enefits that TASA Omega's vertical integration and one stop shop portfolio of omega-3 products will deliver to our customers."
Pope and Elo added that: "We look forward to participating at VitaFoods in Geneva from 5-7 May and the opportunity to formally introduce TASA Omega to the natural products industry. We invite all current and potential new customers to visit us at TASA Omega booth #M98 or ACETO's booth #L18 during the show."
