Ingredients specialists, Rigest, is celebrating its British Retail Consortium Global Supply Chain certificate for agents and brokers (BRCGS), boosting confidence and saving resources for its customers.

The award follows a demanding application process which saw the company demonstrate it met the consortium’s stringent standards in processing and systems over months of testing and auditing. It saw the company attain ‘AA’ results, the highest possible grade awarded by the organisation.

Ben Wadsworth, general manager of Rigest, explains: “To gain BRCGS certification, we re-built our systems to ensure they met all their requirements and demonstrated our processes and documentation were to the BRC’s standards.

“Traceability is essential in our industry and we have proven that our suppliers also meet the criteria needed.

“As a result, we can now offer a much quicker and simpler service for our customers who no longer need to carry out checks on third parties themselves as we do that for them. Therefore, they can be sure of the quality and traceability of the products, removing the time, resources and red tape involved in maintaining their own certification.”

The certificate applies to Rigest’s full range of acidulants, nutrition products, phosphates, preservatives and sweeteners used in food, beverage, healthcare, sports performance, animal feed and pet foods.

Rigest was acquired by the Airedale Group in 2015, although it has been trading since 1993, providing the food and drink manufacture industry with food grade chemicals and ingredients.
