Hydrosol develops high-interest product for the delicatessen industry

Health and fitness remain big trends in the food industry, as was clearly evident at Food Ingredients Europe 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany. Among the food and beverage innovations were protein-enriched products and Hydrosol is addressing this trend with a new, protein-rich salad dressing.

Consumer awareness of healthy nutrition and sound weight management is growing. Based on scientific studies, nutritionists recommend reducing the amount of carbohydrates in the diet and increasing the amount of protein. Thus, the low carbs trend is increasingly become a high protein trend - the demand for high-protein foods is rising accordingly.

For athletes as well as for weight control, Hydrosol has developed a salad dressing with a high protein content of more than 8%. Nutritionally, it is interesting because of its high whey protein and low fat content. It is also suitable for vegetarian diets, since the Stabimuls D HP stabilisation system used in it is made without eggs. It is based on high-quality milk proteins, native starch and hydrocolloids. Naturally, the dressing can be individually seasoned with herbs and spices.

Customers who want to create new purchase interest with special flavour nuances can benefit from the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe network. For example, in close cooperation with sister company OlbrichtArom, new flavour concepts can be created using orange paste. Since this creamy dressing adheres to salad very well due to the special stabiliser, the flavour is especially intense. At the same time, it ensures high protein uptake. Another plus point is that this high-protein dressing can be given a long shelf life through heating. This new product gives delicatessen manufacturers a way to expand their product range with trendy products. At the same time, as a high-protein dressing it opens up new sales possibilities in channels such as sport studios and fitness centres.
