Nutritional supplements company Doctor’s Best, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kingdomway USA, has acquired Viactiv brand of calcium and magnesium chews.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Doctor’s Best is engaged in developing science -backed formulas featuring premium, branded ingredients.

The acquisition of Viactiv will enhance the California-based Doctor’s Best’s reach in retail sector and enable it to offer customers a broader selection of essential nutrients in delicious forms.

The deal combines two companies which focus on advancing health and wellness.

Doctor’s Best CEO Gale Bensussen said: “Viactiv has been the leading chew form of calcium for nearly 25 years and has developed well-earned relationships with the Nation’s leading retailers.

“The importance of adequate calcium intake cannot be overstated; it’s critical for bone health in nearly every stage of life.

“For decades, consumers have demonstrated that Viactiv is their convenient, delicious option for calcium intake. We look forward to helping customers continue to meet their nutritional needs by adding this beloved brand to our current offerings.”

Bensussen will take the position of CEO for the Viactiv brand, with operations centred at Doctor’s Best’s headquarters.

The nutritional supplements firm is planning for a seamless transition for Viactiv’s existing customers and partners.

The company will also focus on maintaining Viactiv’s standards.

Doctor’s Best offers more than 200 products using branded ingredients that has demonstrated potency, safety, and clinically studied efficacy.

All products are said to be manufactured and tested at Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) certified sites in the US.
