Progress Biotech DHA algal oil approved by EU for Infant Formula use
Progress Biotech is proud to announce EU approval for the use of its high DHA algal oil in Infant Formula. Following the favourable Scientific Opinion published by EFSA in October 2020 the EU published on April 26th 2021 the Regulation (EU) 2021/670 authorizing Progress Biotech to place its high DHA algal oil on the market as a novel food for Infant Formula.

OMAHA, NE – Today the US Food and Drug Association (FDA) announced final guidance to allow the use of “potassium salt” as an alternative to “potassium chloride salt” on the ingredient label for food products. This guidance is part of the FDA’s Nutrition Innovation Strategy to reduce the burden of chronic disease in the United States by improving nutrition and promotion of healthier food options by encouraging the use potassium-based salt as an alternative to sodium-based salt. Americans consume, on average, 3,400 mg of sodium per day- nearly 50% more than the 2,300 mg recommended limit.
