OMAHA, NE – Today the US Food and Drug Association (FDA) announced final guidance to allow the use of “potassium salt” as an alternative to “potassium chloride salt” on the ingredient label for food products. This guidance is part of the FDA’s Nutrition Innovation Strategy to reduce the burden of chronic disease in the United States by improving nutrition and promotion of healthier food options by encouraging the use potassium-based salt as an alternative to sodium-based salt.
