Gadot Biochemical Industries (Haifa Bay, Israel) has launched Gadosport, a new nutrition-specific citrate mineral line for pre-, during, and post-workout.
Magnesium is an important mineral for active individuals because it plays a significant role in the active transport of calcium and potassium ions across cell membranes, which is critical for nerve impulse conduction, muscle contraction, and normal heart rhythm, says Youval Saly, vice-president of sales for Gadot Biochemical Industries, in a press release. "Currently, many recovery sports drinks are lacking this mineral, so there's wide opportunity for market differentiation," Saly added.
The ingredient line has three varieties. Gadosport 120 is for post-workout and recovery formulas to compensate for mineral losses during extended or intense physical activity. Gadosport 121 is aimed at supporting sustained energy for exercise and competition by maintaining a desired mineral balance. Gadosport 123 is a direct source of magnesium that doesn't require water for absorption and utilization that is similar to pop rocks, and comes in various flavors, making it an attractive alternative to pills or powder.
"Protein powders may remain the top-of-mind sports supplement product, but fitness enthusiasts, trainers and athletes are learning how important proper mineral balance is to achieve goals and to experience better recovery," said Saly in a press release.
