With the introduction of the Sugar Tax on beverages in the UK, JPL have developed a range of clean label, natural alternatives to sugars & sweeteners to maintain the taste of the affected drinks. Super Sweet is a Natural Flavouring that can be based on any solvent carrier, whether it be a water or oil based liquid and for powder applications.
Initial trials of the flavours were focussed on the beverages, dairy, confectionery & health and sports nutrition sectors with excellent results in comparison to standard full sugar and artificially sweetened products. Taste, sweetness and mouthfeel were key attributes from the results.
Further trials were conducted in the culinary sector where it delivered both sweetness and mouthfeel enhancement in a wide range of cooking sauces, mayonnaise and other condiments.
Super Salt is a Natural Flavouring that is powder based and can be used across all sectors of the snacks and culinary range. It has proven to be very successful with trials in cooking sauces and ready meals. It offers the taste and mouthfeel of salt without the need for added salt.
Super Cal is a fat modulator for use in the savoury sector, to reduce the addition of fat and calories without sacrificing taste. As with added sugars and salt, consumers are well aware of the calorific values of foods and what contribution added fats have on them. JPL were inspired to create something that can reduce the fat content and/or high calorie contributing ingredients, whilst maintaining great taste and succulence in the final product
Super Grill is an alternative natural flavour to the current thermal processed flavourings. With the recent label declarations changing for Smoke & Grill Flavourings, manufacturers are facing problems with labelling products that include Grill Flavouring and Smoke Flavouring.
JPL have created a replacement for thermal processed grill flavours with Super Grill™ which is a cold mix Natural Flavouring and can be labelled as Natural Flavouring. This will negate any potential pejorative connotations about the word "Grill" while maintaining a fantastic grill-type flavour.
Super Smoke was created in a similar aspect to the Super Grill™. With consumers craving clean label declarations for these types of products, JPL have designed a cold mix Smoke Flavouring that can be labelled as a Natural Flavouring. After having fantastic success in the savoury sauces and ready meal sector, this flavour has been promoted in a variety of other product sectors, such as beverages.
