Red alert: Sensient launches EU-friendly colour range

Sensient Food Colors Europe has launched a new range of colourings which allow bright red colours to be created in food manufacturing without the use of aluminium-containing carmine.
The Natural Red Range, particularly suited to berry or fruit-flavoured products among other applications, could provide a welcome option in the production of foodstuffs such as ice cream, which are affected by EU regulations due to come into effect.

Merck and Azelis partner up on pearl pigments in Benelux

The latest distribution agreement between Merck and Azelis will see the latter, a leader in specialty chemicals and food additives distribution, take on the marketing rights for Merk’s Candurin pearl effect pigments for the food industry, across Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Under the agreement, signed on 1 July, Azelis will look after local customer support and applications technology, while Merck provides support in R&D, training and regulation.
